Ocean City Bike Week

On Maryland's Atlantic coast, on a long barrier island just north of the Maryland–Delaware border.

The motorcycle events aren't confined to one venue. They spread through Ocean City and the wider Delmarva Peninsula, with the Ocean City Convention Center, the Inlet area and venues farther west toward Salisbury all historically involved. 

A bit of history

There's a slightly confusing history because "Ocean City Bike Week" can refer to several related events over the years.

The broader Delmarva Bike Week tradition goes back to the early 2000s. By 2006, the sixth annual Delmarva Biker Week was already attracting more than 100,000 people. 

Then came OC BikeFest, which was developed in Ocean City around 2010. The promoter originally proposed it after the closure/consolidation of a Harley-Davidson dealership that had been an important venue for the existing Delmarva event. 

In 2013, OC BikeFest and Delmarva Bike Week came under the same ownership/organisation, effectively creating the large regional motorcycle event that people generally associate with Ocean City's Bike Week today.

The pandemic caused the 2020 events to be postponed, with the 10th anniversary of OC BikeFest and 20th anniversary of Delmarva Bike Week moved to 2021. 

The event has subsequently evolved again. In 2026, the Ocean City event was being promoted as OC Rock & Ride Bikefest, running September 9–12.

How many people go?

This is a very substantial rally attracting between 100,000 to 150,000 bikers each year.

That's a lot of motorcycles for a relatively small resort town.

Here you have the Atlantic beach on one side, hotels, bars, restaurants and boardwalk attractions, and then hundreds/thousands of motorcycles circulating along Coastal Highway and throughout the region.

The modern event has become particularly associated with live music and major rock acts, which makes it feel more like a motorcycle/music festival than a traditional riding rally. 

☀️ What's the weather like?

This is one of Ocean City's advantages.

The modern event is held in September, rather than the early summer dates associated with some other American rallies.

September averages are approximately:

• 🌡️ High: 80°F / 26°C
• 🌡️ Low: 60°F / 16°C
• 🌧️ Rainfall: around 4.2 inches for the month
• 💨 Average wind: around 10 mph

So you can get warm, sunny beach weather without the oppressive heat of July/August.

However, it's still the Atlantic coast, so weather can change quickly. Tropical storms and hurricanes are an occasional consideration during the September season, although direct hits on Ocean City are relatively uncommon. 

What is the atmosphere like?

Ocean City is similar to Daytona Bike Week a more of a party/beach holiday than Laconia or Sturgis.

You can spend the morning riding through the Delmarva countryside, come back to Ocean City, park the bike, walk along the beach or boardwalk, have something to eat, then see a major rock band in the evening.

And because it's a purpose-built tourist resort, there are lots of hotels, restaurants, bars and entertainment immediately around the event.

The downside of that is traffic. During the rally, Ocean City's roads can become extremely busy with motorcycles and other visitors. The town actually establishes a Special Event Zone during the 2026 event, with enhanced enforcement and a significant police presence because of the expected influx of motorcycles.
