The lenses are SHATTERPROOF photochromic items that react to light. They're clear indoors & at night but darken like sunglasses in sunlight. So you only need one pair of glasses for all conditions.

Footnote: The lenses darken when they are exposed to UV400 light - most modern cars have a UV400 filter built into them - they will NOT darken if you use them in your car or behind a clear helmet visor with a UV filter

Bought these as I wanted to wear an open-face helmet on a motorcycle tour in the USA and also something for green laneing with a trials helmet. I now wear varifocals for driving (previously had just needed the version with the +2 bifocal adjustment to see the speedo/sat nav etc.)
Bit the bullet and went to Specsavers where they were happy to make me a new varifocal set of glasses for driving and (under the buy one pair get another free) repeat the prescription for the inserts as the free pair.
They work superbly as road riding glasses/sunglasses or with the elastic strap to keep them more secure. I did over 2000 miles in the USA and they were great. They are so fast to react to the changing light people commented how quickly they had gone from dark to light and back again. You don't notice, just continue to see clearly.
Riding into tunnels, not a problem they clear in a few seconds and then bang straight back to dark as you exit.
For green laneing I've really struggled with glasses steaming up under goggles but these are great with the changeable elastic strap keeping them secure.
I lost the elastic strap on the journey home and was so pleased that Fat skeleton could send out a replacement the next day. Top marks guys, a love a product that works.
Was a bit nervous whether they suit varifocals. Went to spec saver who used my prescription to construct lens (£225!!) so was even more nervous. Have to say though they work an absolute treat. Great product.
I had no problems getting my prescription lenses fitted at Vision Express. The lenses fitted well in the frame. It should also stop wind making my eyes water.
